Church Collections at Mass

Parishioners will remember that we used to have two collections at weekend Masses and on Holy Days: one at the Offertory for general costs and another after Communion for special purposes.  The latter included Diocesan Needs, twice a month, The Missions, Retired Priests, once a year.

Having suspended the second basket collection, we now contribute to these funds from the Offertory collection.  Those who use the envelope system have special envelopes for their contributions but those who put cash in the basket may not be aware of the extra needs on certain weekends.

This point was raised at the AGM of the Parish Council and we will try to flag special collections through the newsletter and website.  The next collections for Diocesan Needs are on the weekends of June 9th & 16th; July 14th & 21st.
